Are you looking for a simple, sweet, low-cost, low-key way to celebrate Valentine’s Day with your love? Watching a movie or two in the comfort of your own home certainly hits on all the criteria!
Valentine’s Day is a perfect time to catch a rom-com or romance movie! At Westchester County Mom, we have our faves, and we’re excited to share them just in time to celebrate Valentine’s Day.
I’m a sucker for When Harry Met Sally and You’ve Got Mail. New York City serves as a character in each of these movies, and I can watch them over and over again. {Christine}
French Kiss with Meg Ryan and Kevin Kline. Nothing more romantic than Paris and rooting for the underdog! {Angela}
How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days: Such fun chemistry between the main characters! {Jessica}
10 Things I Hate About You is wonderful. An amazing Shakespearean update with such a great cast and classic one-liners that all “elder millennials” know! {Juliana}
Pride & Prejudice and Emma (1996) are so romantic. I love the interactions and the proposals from those movies. The way Mr. Darcy declares his love in Pride & Prejudice; and in Emma, the way Mr. Knightley speaks with Emma so passionately. {Marcia}
Bridesmaids: Ridiculously funny! A great balance of friendship and dating struggles ending in finally finding that special someone. {Lelia}
Sweet Home Alabama: I have a major soft spot for this movie because Reese Witherspoon’s character winds up with her high school sweetheart like I ended up with mine. {Melissa}
Love & Basketball: Childhood best friends who fall in love then break up but ultimately find their way back to one another. {Lelia}
The Sweetest Thing: Cameron Diaz and Christina Applegate are hilarious in this movie, and I love their friendship (in addition to the romance storyline). {Jessica}
My Best Friend’s Wedding: I love anything with Julia Roberts! {Michelle}
I love 27 Dresses and just recently watched The 40-Year-Old Virgin again, which I’m not sure if it’s considered a romantic comedy, but it was so funny to watch again, and in the end, the characters fall in love so maybe it is. (Marcia)
Great choices Melissa! Love them all too one more for the list, Sense and Sensibilities is a good one too.
Fun list, right? And that’s a good one to add! I definitely saw lots of these movies on as I was flipping around the channels this past weekend!
