How Pilates with Taisha Changed My Feelings About Fitness

Over the last couple of years, I’ve had a love/hate relationship with fitness. I joined a gym and canceled my membership. I paid for an exercise app and canceled my subscription. I tried free YouTube videos, and they were subpar. Lastly, I joined a local exercise studio and didn’t enjoy the classes, so I only went a few times.

It’s funny because health and wellness have been a part of my life for many years, but since turning 40, I hadn’t found anything that motivated me or gave me the results I was looking for.

That’s when I saw a friend sharing her workout sessions on Instagram. Her posts were fascinating to me. It was a form of exercise that I had tried in the past, and it piqued my interest once again. She looked like she was having fun and getting great results. The difference was that this was with a personal trainer. I had a few complimentary sessions with one when I joined a gym years ago, but I never continued.

I didn’t reach out to this particular trainer for a while but I felt accomplished when I finally did. Would we mesh as trainer and client? Would I enjoy this type of exercise again? And most importantly, would I get the results I was looking for?

The form of exercise that I’m speaking about is Pilates. And this intriguing trainer is Taisha. Her company is Pilates with Taisha, and after my first session with her, she changed my feelings about fitness.

Pilates has become increasingly popular and even trendy, especially on social media. I remember popping in my VHS tapes and doing mat Pilates with Mari Windsor in the early 2000s. The creator and founder of Pilates, Joseph Pilates, says, “In 10 sessions you will feel a difference; in 20 sessions you will see a difference; and in 30 sessions you will have a whole new body.”

I began my sessions with Taisha in January. Her studio is located in beautiful Northern Greenwich, CT. The drive is about 15 minutes from Mount Kisco and close to many other towns in the surrounding area. It’s peaceful and scenic. You are met with beautifully manicured grounds, breathtaking views, and serenity when you pull up to her studio.

When I entered her studio, Taisha greeted me with a big smile and a warm welcome. Her studio is bright, airy, and well-equipped. A big sign says, “Yes You Can,” which fits her positive energy.

She had a motivating playlist of music in the background, and she checked in with me throughout the hour-long session and explained which muscle each exercise targeted. We hit it off immediately, and I felt very comfortable with her and her abilities.

Taisha began her career in a local Pilates studio, where she still teaches. Her classes quickly filled up because of her teaching style and how she made clients feel during and after a workout. They filled up so much that she had to add days to accommodate her dedicated students. This was when a lightbulb went off, and Pilates with Taisha was born. Because she was in high demand and loved teaching, she wanted to work with clients on her own time, in her own space, and tailor the experience without any limitations.Pilates with Taisha

Although Taisha offers traditional Pilates training and she advocates Pilates for every body, her style is what makes her unique and stand out from the rest. Along with her training, she focuses on the mind and body connection and balance within the body. This is important for a well-rounded routine.

Her sessions include a combination of traditional Pilates exercises founded by Joseph Pilates and strength training. Her wide range of Pilates and strength training equipment enables her to be very creative in designing individual workouts. She combines conventional Pilates equipment, such as the Reformer and the Wunda Chair, with a TRX system, free weights, balls, and bands.

What makes personal training sessions with Taisha special is that she exclusively trains in a one-on-one environment to cater to everyone’s needs and goals. She is also very flexible with her client’s schedules and takes the time to plan them out month by month.

Taisha is currently training to get a boxing certification because she is always working hard to innovate and grow her business. She will incorporate that into her sessions beginning this summer. She has also recently started her own line of Pilates with Taisha apparel.

Taisha’s mission is clear. She wants to help women love their bodies by creating a healthier, stronger, more confident YOU! Having trained with her for six months, I can say that I do feel and look healthier, stronger, and more confident. And we aren’t done yet!
