Sometimes shopping for boys can be tricky. What can you buy that will last more than a week when your kids are always out in the dirt, sliding into home base, and catching frogs in the backyard? My boys, ages 6 and 9, always tear the knees in their pants within two weeks of getting them. They also love using their shirts as napkins and staining everything, no matter how many times I remind them that I do, in fact, buy actual napkins.
I must admit that I had way more fun buying clothes for my daughter when she was young. I used to buy adorable matching sets and sweet sundresses from some of my favorite boutiques in Westchester County. Things would wash well and last forever, and I was able to pass most of them along to friends when they needed them.
Cut to years later, with my boys, I learned fast that it wasn’t worth buying super nice clothing unless it was a special occasion. But for someone who loves fashion and for their kids to look polished as much as possible, I had to find ways to make their clothes last and look good without breaking the bank.

While keeping all this in mind, I found some spots that became my go-to places to shop.
At Target, I would go for the Cat and Jack brand. This brand was great for lightweight, basic, solid tees, short and long-sleeved, and would get me through the spring and summer seasons. The cotton breathable fabric washed well, and the price point was just right. Sometimes I get tees for $8 or less!
Abercrombie Kids is my favorite for bathing suits and graphic tees. My boys are huge baseball fans, and they always have fashionable tees and sweatshirts with baseball graphics. The bathing suits are of great quality and have lasted two summers already. My son loves his NY Yankees swim trunks. I usually shop with points and keep things in my cart until the price drops.
Goat USA has become a big hit with the kids these days, and I was surprised by the quality. My boys love the comfy, mesh shorts and the cozy hoodies. I always wait for a good sale. They have their signature goat representing each sport, and I love the baseball-themed merchandise and getting the free stickers!
As for sneakers, my boys and I love Nikes. They definitely get destroyed, but my kids really beat up their shoes. They can be dressed up or down, and you can’t ever go wrong with a classic fit. The socks are worth the price tag, too.
For pants and sweats, I always order Under Armour joggers on Amazon. They fit well and have the athletic look my kids prefer.
