Type A moms always have a neatly labeled snack bag, a color-coded planner, and a first-aid kit on hand at all times. And then there are the Type B moms who roll up to soccer practice five minutes late in yesterday’s leggings, happily handing their kid a handful of loose goldfish they found in the car cup holder.
And then there’s me—squarely straddling the organized chaos of Type A/B motherhood.
I can’t find my car keys on any given day, but I will get my children to practice on time. I am never the mom with extra Band-Aids or a granola bar in my bag, but I will be the one to volunteer for whatever needs to be done at school. Somehow, I do get things done. I may get distracted mid-task (oh look, an email I forgot to respond to!), but I run two successful businesses, teach a full classroom of students, and still manage to get my kids everywhere they need to be.
Let’s be honest, being a Type A/B mom is both a gift and a struggle. Some may call it a contradiction—I call it balance.
I’m deeply committed to my kids’ schedules, yet my own personal life is a walking question mark. Need me at a school event? I’ll be there ten minutes early. Need me to RSVP to a birthday party? Well…you should probably text me three times and maybe send a carrier pigeon for good measure.
My kids? They always have what they need, even if I have to pull off a last-minute miracle. Me? I forget to drink water half the time, and I have been meaning to return an Amazon package for weeks.
And let’s talk about school mornings. My Type A side sets the alarm early, lays out the clothes the night before, and makes sure the lunches are ready. My Type B side completely forgets about Spirit Day and scrambles to sign last-minute permission slips.
