If you know me, then you know I grew up in a car dealership. My family owned a dealership for over 50 years until they sold it in 2006. I’ve been around cars and dealerships all of my childhood and some of my adult life.
That said, I can’t say enough great things about the team and facility at Subaru White Plains. From the moment I walked in the door to pick up the loaner car, I was impressed with how nice the showroom and waiting area were and how friendly and accommodating everyone was.
Now, let’s get to the car! I was given a 2023 Subaru Forester (in a beautiful deep red). I have never driven a Subaru before, so I was excited when given the chance. The Forester itself is on the small end, and while I probably wouldn’t recommend it as a main car for my family of five, I would definitely say it would make a great “second car,” “commuter car,” or even better, a car for a teen driver. (I’m far off from that, but it did have me thinking what a great car it would be for a young driver).
Nonetheless, I had a great time driving the Subaru Forester and fell in love with some of its features.
1. The Moonroof
The Subaru Forester’s moonroof adds a touch of elegance and open-air enjoyment to its versatile design, allowing drivers and passengers to bask in natural light and fresh air. The moonroof’s expansive size provides an airy and spacious feeling inside the cabin, enhancing the overall driving experience.
2. Trunk Space
The Subaru Forester’s generous trunk space is well-suited for various storage needs. With its ample cargo capacity, it can easily accommodate luggage, groceries, outdoor gear, or even larger items with the rear seats folded down. The square and versatile shape of the trunk makes it practical for loading and unloading, enhancing the Forester’s reputation as a practical and spacious SUV.
3. Fuel Efficiency
The Subaru Forester is known for its impressive fuel efficiency, making it a practical choice for city and highway driving. Its efficient boxer engine and symmetrical all-wheel drive system contribute to competitive fuel economy ratings among compact SUVs. Whether navigating urban traffic or embarking on a road trip, the Forester’s fuel-efficient design helps keep fuel costs manageable while delivering the versatility of an SUV.
4. Safety
The Subaru Forester is renowned for its exceptional safety features, earning it top ratings in crash tests and safety evaluations. Its standard symmetrical all-wheel drive and advanced driver-assistance systems like EyeSight contribute to its excellent safety record, offering features such as adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assist. The Forester’s strong chassis, numerous airbags, and available Subaru’s DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System make it a reliable choice for those prioritizing safety on the road.
I’m so glad I was given this opportunity to try out a car that I had never driven before. While it wasn’t the perfect size for my family, it was great when I had to go and train clients and teach my other fitness classes.
