What to do with all these lemons? They tell us, “When life gives you lemons, make lemonade.” But, what happens if you are not a fan of lemonade?
Something to remember is that there are alternatives to lemonade. Get creative, clever, and imaginative. I mean, you have the lemons – it doesn’t do anyone any good to let them sit there to rot.
How about making lemonade for others? Plenty of people rather enjoy lemonade. It’s a lovely gesture to provide for someone else. It is better to give than to receive.
Or offer the lemons to others. A friend, a family member, or a colleague, maybe? There is a real possibility that your lemons can benefit others. After all, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.
Possibly combine the lemon with other ingredients and create something else. Lemons are not just used to make lemonade. Grab some flour, eggs, sugar, and a few other ingredients to make lemon bars. That takes away some tart and adds some sweetness too. Piece of cake!
Another idea is to pick the lemon apart. The parts of the lemon could be useful separately. Probably something that you have not thought of before! Grate the peel to make lemon zest. The peel of a lemon has health benefits, such as digestion and boosting the immune system. And use the rest for compost. Don’t be so fast to judge a book by its cover.
Grab the seeds, clean them well and plant them. Grow a lemon tree! Use the seeds as an opportunity to start anew. Creation is beautiful. After all, you reap what you sow.
When life gives you lemons, everyone assumes you will make lemonade. No way! Reinvent that lemon! Mix it up with a little something and use it for another purpose rather than the norm. There really are so many.
Lemons can sooth poison ivy and disinfect minor scrapes. Lemons can keep certain foods from going bad – like apples, cauliflower, and even guacamole! They can help eliminate some odors. They can help remove stains and clean glass. Lemons will brighten your dull pots and pans too. Expect the unexpected!
So even though you do not particularly like lemonade, remember that the lemon could have so many other redeeming qualities. Transform that lemon into something positive – for you or others. Look at the lemon out of a different lens. The lemon may be the best thing for you in the long run – even if you don’t enjoy lemonade.
Know that there are better options for you than lemonade. Don’t turn a blind eye to the lemon. You never know what accepting the lemon might bring you.
After all, it is just a saying. The possibilities are endless.
