Spruce Up Your Home For Spring With These Budget-Friendly Tips

0
Spring decor. As we enter spring, we associate this time of year with new beginnings. Many of us will be taking on new projects in our homes or, at the very least, focusing on doing some spring cleaning.

If the thought of cleaning or preparing for spring seems overwhelming and expensive, there are some easy and virtually free ways to spruce up your home that will help you to welcome this season while freshening up your home and creating a welcoming environment that all will appreciate!

1. Deep Cleaning

It is important to try to clean out and prepare our homes seasonally. If you took steps to winterize your home, you would want to start prepping your home for spring. Turn on those garden hoses, bring out your power washer and garden gloves, and make a list!

If you start with the exterior of your home, you will want to start planting, cutting, and pruning dead plants and trees so they can grow back healthy this spring and summer. Getting mulch or wood chips will also spruce up your exterior, and if you contact your local town, you may even be able to obtain these for free!

Assessing your siding and deck is also important. If it needs a lift, power washing is the way to go. If you don’t own a power washer, you can borrow or rent one from a store. Once the outside looks spring ready, you can focus on the home’s interior. Purging items you don’t use, donating items you don’t need, and giving your home a nice deep clean will help prepare your home and mind for spring!

2. Fresh or Faux Tulips

Preparing for spring can be as simple as adding a pop of color with fresh or faux tulips. Use an old vase and place it in one of the main gathering points of your home, such as your living room or kitchen. Tulips add a subtle pop of color that creates a spring vibe in a simple yet elegant way. Using different sizes or shaped vases and trimming tulips to accommodate the vase will add texture to any room.

3. Make Your Home Smell Like Spring

If you want your home to smell amazing, incorporating light and gentle smells will welcome spring with open arms. Whether you prefer a stovetop simmer, essential oil diffuser, or natural candles, stick with scents that are not overwhelming. My favorites are lemon, rosemary, vanilla, lavender, and honeysuckle. You can also incorporate spring-themed soaps in your kitchen and bathroom. My favorite is Mrs. Meyer’s foaming hand soaps in lemon, lavender, and honeysuckle.

4. Floral Pillow Covers and Blankets

Adding texture and color to a room can be as simple as swapping out a pillow cover or adding a lightweight decorative blanket draping over a couch, chair, or bed. Sticking one to two colors will help keep the area looking elegant without making the area appear crowded and loud. If adding a pattern, make sure not to overdo the area and utilize the pattern as an accent, not the room’s main focal point. If you have patio furniture or outside furniture, grab a waterproof floral pillow cover to create a spring atmosphere that transitions outside the home.

5. New Wall Art

Bring some new life into your home with some contemporary wall art. There are so many free art printables available on the internet and digital downloads that can be printed and added to existing frames. Websites like ETSY are great for finding the perfect new addition to your home this spring. Hang your new art in entryways, bathrooms, and bedrooms, to make a lasting impression that will brighten anyone’s day.

6. Wreaths and Faux Greens

If you’re up for a DIY project, you can create your own spring wreaths to hang on your front door or kitchen. Head over to your favorite craft store, match the colors you use for spring, and make your own spring wreath. If you need inspiration, browse through Instagram, Tic Tok, Facebook, and YouTube for quick and easy tutorials to help you make the perfect wreath.

Don’t forget to check out your local Dollar Tree as well! You will be surprised to find faux greens, flowers, plants, and more! If you don’t want to make a wreath, add some faux green throughout the home. You can spruce up any area with faux greens elevating the area and creating that warm spring feeling.
