New Year, Be You

A mom with her son.Every new year, we are inundated with messages about improving ourselves and how to make a bold move, change ourselves, and transform into the New You.

How about be YOU? How about finding what makes you happy and brings joy and peace to your mind? Without all of these, what is life really about?

As a mom, I’ve realized that being in the moment with my daughter is empowering. Looking at life’s daily challenges and choices can be seen as adventures. Finding the joy and allowing myself to be vulnerable brings pause to the never-ending lists in my head.

If I don’t feel fulfilled and cannot be myself, what is that modeling for my daughter? Our children observe us, and our reactions are their cues. Being me and being authentic shows my daughter that it’s okay not always to have all the answers. We can figure it out together in time.

We don’t have to change ourselves; we aren’t damaged goods. We are human, and our flaws make us who we are.

Changing our diet, hair color, or starting the latest fad will not bring us peace. We choose peace. Gifting our children this strategy is a game-changer. It’s the gift that keeps on giving.

We are all works in progress. Growth and healing are ongoing processes that do not happen overnight. They require time, patience, and repetition without judgment.

Encourage yourself to learn to be comfortable with your skin. Practicing various methodologies will feed your inner soul.

We should teach our children that it isn’t just one moment but the whole process. Here lies within the process, the seeds of growth. The seeds of wisdom are needed to make healthier choices for ourselves. Not because it’s that time of the year again but because it is what we deserve.

We deserve peace and joy. Both entail hard work and perseverance. Learning that persistence is key to success. Success doesn’t always mean fame, money, and power. It is inner strength and inner peace.

As we age, inner peace becomes a greater part of our quest for life. Without it, chaos occurs. When chaos happens, we become more aware of ourselves and our surroundings. Making choices from a place of love, light, and peace makes our lives more our own.

Finding this path and staying focused become the pillars of our everyday existence. We begin noticing that we do make a difference. We do have an impact on this world. Our impact is unique and one of a kind, just like us.

Our hairstyles, clothes, and materialistic endeavors won’t always be a stable and consistent source of joy. This New Year, reflect on who you are and what truly brings peace to you and your family. Build on that and make choices that align with those goals. Be a trailblazer and make your path. Remember, there is only one you. Be YOU.
