Our Westchester County Mom contributors live all over this beautiful county. Each of us knows our own corners well, and as a team, we love being able to share our collective resources and knowledge of Westchester County with our readers.
A common question on social media, especially in parenting groups, is for local restaurant recommendations. As Westchester County is home to many incredible restaurants, our contributor team is excited to share our faves!
This month we are spotlighting our top choices for Indian Food around Westchester County. From Mount Kisco to New Rochelle to Armonk… we’ve got you covered!
Bena’s Pick:
Shirley’s India (1 Leroy Place, New Rochelle): “Only does take out, but they are excellent and have authentic South Indian Keralite food. They also have great lunch boxes.” Shirley’s has an incredible variety on the menu, and the prices are pretty reasonable. She lists four featured items, and one looks better than the next: The Street Box, The Street Cart Fries, The Shirley Appetizer Combo (Vegetable and Beef Samosas, Tuna and Beef Cutlets, Fried Boneless Chicken, with a bunch of dipping sauces), and The Bread Basket (5 Naan, 3 Paratha, 2 Poori). Catering is available and closed Mondays. And definitely check out Shirley’s story!
Jessica’s Pick:
Indi-Q (61 Old Route 22, Armonk) “Upscale Indian food. The Indi-Tacos are a unique and yummy appetizer.” Indi-Tacos are made on flour tortillas with your choice of filling of chicken, lamb, shrimp, or paneer (cheese) covered with shredded cabbage, cilantro, mango slaw, and garlic chutney. That Bread Menu? Impossible to not want everything on it! In addition to classic Indian entrees and specials, Indi-Q has a full BBQ menu where all dishes are slow-cooked in a traditional charcoal clay oven. Gluten-free and vegan options are available. Catering options are available as well. Happy hour drink specials Monday through Friday from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
Jessica and Jessie both recommend:
Little Kabab Station (31 East Main Street, Mount Kisco): Offering inventive Indian cuisine, such as kabab platters and biryani bowls, as well as many vegetarian options.
Jessie tells us that “Martha Stewart is a big fan!”
Jessica tells us that she loves “their stuffed naan, aloo gobi, chicken saag, vindaloo. Our go-to spot for takeout (dine-in seating is limited).”
The owner also has another restaurant with Indian cuisine called Little Mumbai Market (475 Bedford Rd, Pleasantville), which is a bit of a cross between Indian Food Cart fare and the flavors of a French Bistro.
Friends and family put a few others on our radar, but our contributors haven’t had the opportunity to try them just yet. Menus look so tasty though!
