May 4, in some circles known as Star Wars Day (May the fourth be with you), is also known as Renewal Day. And I love the sound of that!
The spring season is a great time for renewal in all aspects of our lives. It’s a time to start over, perhaps change direction, and it’s an opportunity to rejuvenate.
Think about how your year has been going so far. We are almost at the halfway point of the year now. If you’re not particularly happy with something you’re currently doing, this is the perfect time to take charge and change it.
Maybe your eating habits have gotten a bit off track, or you swore you’d read a book a month, and so far you haven’t even cracked open a spine. Perhaps you want to change up your parenting style or even just your hair color! This is the perfect time to tackle your projects.
I like to start with a list. I am the queen of them! Whether you prefer pen and paper or your phone, a list can be so helpful. Think of the things you’d like to rejuvenate; they can be big or small. Then write down ways you can approach making a change, however small.
If you want stronger relationships with others, maybe vow to try a biweekly call to check in with a friend or a monthly meet-up. Want to eat more produce? Write up a meal plan that includes at least one fruit or veggie per meal, then make it a point to pick them up in your weekly shopping. If you want to exercise more, block out time on your calendar for a walk or quick workout.
There are so many parts of life that I’m sure we can all find ways we want to renew. It can feel overwhelming.
But you know that old saying, Rome wasn’t built in a day? Words to live by. Instead of making yourself feel overwhelmed or stressed, focus on the most important things you want to change – in the now. Everything else can come later.
Once you feel more positive about one aspect of your life, the rest will start to come together like a domino effect. And by the end of the year, you can check your progress and feel good about how far you’ve come.
