I asked my kids what they love about Mount Kisco, and here is what they said.
1. Diversity
Mount Kisco is ethnically diverse. The village has a history of drawing immigrants from Italy, Ireland, and, more recently, Latin America. It is something my kids notice and appreciate. My 10-year-old loves having friends that look like her and share similar physical appearances. My 17-year-old loves having friends from all cultural backgrounds. She has Asian, Middle Eastern, Indian, British, and Latin American friends. She loves that she has this chance to meet all those people.
2. Schools
My kids love their schools. My upcoming fifth grader loves her school and teachers and thinks it’s the best school ever. Especially now that she has special accommodations, she feels the care that goes into every aspect to ensure she has the best experience. My upcoming senior agrees. Coming from an international school in NYC, she wasn’t shocked by the public school system, but she was pleasantly surprised. She also thinks her high school is a good, diverse, and academically sound school.
3. The Big Little Village Vibe
Mount Kisco is packed with shops, including big chain stores and small local businesses. It is convenient for my teen to go shopping on her own or with her friends by walking or driving since it’s all within a short distance. Mount Kisco has lots of restaurants with a variety of cuisines. It makes my teen’s life a breeze since she goes out with her friends for small bites or big dinners and tries new cuisines. My younger one likes to go out for mom-and-me dates in town, sampling food, sipping smoothies, enjoying her favorite froyo, and shopping.
4. The Park
Both my kids enjoyed the town camp for many years. Leonard park was always their favorite place in town. Whether to play on the playground, bird watch, hike, swim, or enjoy a relaxed, breezy summer day picnic.
5. Recreation
There is always something fun going on in town, from parades to concerts by the fountain or at the park to a variety of events at the library. I take my little one to concerts to enjoy a nice summer evening and to socialize.
I concluded that Mount Kisco is just as fun to the little ones as the grownups. What are your favorite things about your town?
