Briarcliff Manor may be small, but that’s part of its charm. Tucked along the Hudson River in northern Westchester, this village manages to feel peaceful without feeling sleepy. Tree-lined streets, historic architecture, and a true sense of community give Briarcliff a “home” feeling almost instantly, whether you’re visiting for the afternoon or putting down roots for good.
It’s a place where you can grab a great cup of coffee, stroll the library grounds, hop on a scenic trail, and be home in time for dinner without ever feeling rushed. Families love the strong schools and kid-friendly programming, while visitors appreciate the easy access to hiking, charming local restaurants, and nearby river towns. Briarcliff doesn’t try to be flashy or trendy; instead, it quietly delivers quality of life, natural beauty, and a slower pace that feels increasingly rare in Westchester County.
What To Do
Briarcliff Manor Library: The children’s programming here is still fantastic, and the historic Tudor-style building is as charming as ever.
The Briarcliff Manor: Not just a wedding/event venue — this historic manor offers seasonal events and special dinners worth checking out.
The Village at Briarcliff: A newer curated spot with shops, dining, and services in a walkable village-style plaza.
Head Outside
Unfortunately, Briarcliff is one of those annoying municipalities that require residency to use its park facilities. But in Nearby Ossining or Pleasantville, parks and playgrounds are accessible to all.
Rockafellar State Park: Not technically in Briarcliff, but close and excellent for family hikes, carriage roads, and nature walks.
The County Trailway: Perfect for beautiful bike rides. Pick up the trail from Briarcliff behind the library.
Where To Eat
Donato’s: Quality pizza and the grandma’s slices are pretty great.
Maya Riviera: This one’s on the other side of town and offers delicious Mexican food. They have live music every once in a while, which is fun.
Terra Rustica Ristorante Italiano: Classic Italian comfort food with a beautiful outdoor patio known for brunch and dinner.
105‑Ten Bar & Grill: Beloved American bar and grill with solid mains and a relaxed atmosphere.
512bistro Bar Restaurant: Casual bistro with salads, burgers, and brunch fare right on North State Road.
Flames Bar and Grill: Classic grill with great evening dinner options.
Terranova Fusion: A newer local favorite with a mix of seafood, Mexican, and American dishes — lively and modern.
Boring, shmoring. Briarcliff is a fun place to live or visit.
