Acoustic Folk-Punk Quartet Pluck & Rail @Uncle Cheef, Brewster, NY

Hudson Valley’s hottest live-music lounge, Uncle Cheef, and live music promoters, HearItThere.com, are honored to introduce Pluck & Rail, a unique acoustic quartet originating in the Hudson Valley, on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, with two sets of original music at 7 p.m. and 8 p.m.

Like a well-crafted cocktail, mingling irreverent songwriters, George Gierer’s blistering lead vocals (guitar, banjo, and harmonica) alongside classically-trained cellist Andrew Sussman’s dynamic mastery of string instruments (cello, mandolin) the resulting musical presentation will transport you to the darker side of life—the addition of bassist Zach Swanson and Steve Uh’s soaring violin vocal contributions round out the quartet.

The band’s studio albums are meticulously arranged and beautifully produced. Their debut record, TRIGGER, is an eclectic song series telling tales of misfits and mishaps. Their sophomore album, KILLING TIME, was released in 2022 and was recorded during the height of the pandemic. The music is about lost love, complicated relationships, ghost towns, capital punishment, hope, and redemption on this energetic acoustic album weaving folk, blues, country, and sometimes punk. Pluck & Rail believe that in our bumps and bruises, we find our true beauty.

Hear It There Founder and live music enthusiast Elisa Zuckerberg is continually on the lookout for new music. Residents of the same bucolic community in the Hudson Valley, Zuckerberg has been a fan of the Gierer/Sussman songwriting team for years. Her son, Gabriel, was Sussman’s cello student and was inspired by his encouragement and joy of improvisation and self-expression through music.
