DESCRIPTION:February is Heart Month. Join NewYork-Presbyterian for a special program entitled: Becoming Heart Smart: Heart Disease in the African American Community. The event will take place on Thursday\, February 26\, 2026\, from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. via Zoom. \nAccording to the American Heart Association\, 60% of African Americans over the age of 20 are suffering from some form of cardiovascular disease. To better understand how to reduce your risk for a heart attack or other cardiac event\, join Naa-Solo Tettey\, PhD\, a NewYork-Presbyterian researcher who will address the following: \n~ Factors Leading to Poor Heart Health\n~ Undiagnosed Heart Issues in Young People\n~ Why is Heart Disease Higher Among Black Women\n~ Understanding Heart Failure\n~ Heart Attack Symptoms and When to See the Doctor \nAll are welcome to attend this free program co-sponsored by the Port Chester/Rye and Peekskill branches of the NAACP.
